Department Of Homeland Security Monitors Immigrants' Social Media

There are already so many U.S. citizens concerned with their privacy. Recently, The Department of Homeland Security has announced that they are planning to increase their surveillance on anyone who is in the United States who is not a U.S. citizen by birth.
With the increased use of social media, and with individuals constantly on their phone, the Department of Homeland Security is using social media to gather information. It doesn't matter whether the immigrant is a green card holder or not, there are no immigrants that are safe from this violation of privacy. This also is a violation of privacy for individuals who are native-born that communicate with immigrants through social media.
This will result in fear from immigrants to use their freedom of speech. Many immigrants will seize to use their social media accounts or will become concerned about the content that they have already posted.
There is no way for anyone to know how this information will be used or monitored. Besides collecting information posted by immigrants by their name, the DHS is also trying to gain any pseudonyms immigrants are using on the internet. This shows just how deep that they are diving to collect information.
According to Immigration Impact, information on the social media of immigrants was also gathered for pilots who had applied for immigration benefits. [The report concluded that "it is not clear DHS is measuring and evaluating the pilots' results to determine how well they are performing against set criteria."]
It is very unclear if this method is even yielding tangible results in terms of national security, public safety, and law enforcement. The FBI has even stated that collecting a bulk of information from social media is an unreliable source.
Ever since Trump has been in office, he is taking the surveillance to the next level.
