On Behalf of Palacios Law Group

You use your car every day to get to work, run errands and get where you need to go. Each time you get in your car to go somewhere, you put yourself at risk of getting into a car accident, and many accidents are injurious or even fatal.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, car accidents are responsible for more than 32 million deaths in the U.S. every year. If you were in an accident that caused serious injuries, carefully documenting the recovery process can help you protect your interests.

1\. Write in a journal

As you recover from your accident injuries, document your progress in a journal every day. Write down how you feel, what your recovery looks like and what kind of things you are unable to do because of your injuries.

2\. Take pictures

Photos are some of the most compelling types of evidence that can support your personal injury claim. Right after the accident, take pictures of your injuries and continue to take photos of your injuries as you start to recover.

3\. Compile medical documentation

Every time you see a physician, physical therapist or another health professional, keep receipts for any payments you make. You should also request an official copy of all medical records for treatment you receive to have for your records.

You should also document any conversations you have with law enforcement, the insurance company or anyone else involved with your accident. Keep all of this information together in a safe place, so you can access it easily.
